My Little Lady

My little lady is just that, little. At her 6 month appointment she was is the 12% for height and 6% for weight (13 lbs 4 oz). The doc was a little concerned about her weight because she keeps dropping down on her chart. He told me to nurse 2 more times and feeding her cereal/baby food 3 times per day (except during the night, we weren't messing with her 12 hour nights). I was nursing her every 3 hours but then to accommodate 2 more feedings, I was then nursing her every 2 hours. EVERY 2 HOURS! Plus the food 3 times a day... all Kaylee was doing was eating. BUT she doesn't eat for as long as she was before so I don't think she was really eating that much more.

Anyway, my doc in Payson told me to schedule an appointment in another month for a weight check with our new pediatrician down here in the Basin. Today Kaylee met with her new doc (who I loved! He was soooo cute with her, she loved him!) for that weight check. It did not go as well as I had hoped. She is now only 13 lbs 10 oz and still in the 6%. Crap. Now we are going back to just nursing her when she's hungry, feeding her cereal/food 3 times a day still but now we are supposed to add fat/calories to her food. Everything that we should not eat is okay for my little miss. Butter, bacon fat, lard, yogurt - not the low fat kind! - and anything that I can mix with her food that will fatten that chick up.

Her head and height seem to be fine so they're not overly concerned - they say she may just be really skinny but we're going to try to fatten her up nonetheless. We will be checking back in with the doc in another month to see how things are going.

Also, at the end of August I will be taking her to see a Pediatric Opthamologist because at her 6 month appt they noticed she had an asymmetric red reflex. Which basically means that one eye is weaker than the other. It could mean that she needs nothing more than a few eye drops or it could mean that she needs glasses. Lets hope for the first. Anyway, in order to clearly figure out what is going on with her eyes she needs to see a Pediatric Opthamologist.

So that's the latest on my sweet baby girl.

She is SO CUTE! She looks like she's growing to me, but it might be just because I haven't seen her for a few months. :) Mike hasn't held her yet, so don't be surprised if he snatches her up as soon as we see you guys! :)

She's so dang cute! I know how the "little" thing goes and all about calorie packing food. Good luck with it!

I love and MISS you all! And giving little Kaylee anything she wants sounds awesome. Just send her to her junk food junkie grandma(me) and she'll be chubby in no time.:) Happy day!
