Awesome People

This Christmas season has started out a little rocky. But because of some awesome people - my spirit has really been lifted. There's a lot of poeple I could mention but here's just a few...

First of all - I have the best husband ever. I came home from work on Friday after Jake and I were told that I couldn't do ANYTHING at home (see my baby blog) and Jake was doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen. As soon as I walked in he was rushing me to lay down. He's been so awesome and it's a good thing because it's only been 1 day and I'm already having a hard time to not do anything. He's so concerned about me and our little girl.

He's been the same way all weekend. Yesterday he got the crib finished, brought it to the house and put it together. (It looks amazing!) And he got our Christmas lights up on the house. By last night I was going crazy because I'd been stuck in the house all day and Jake took me for a drive. We went to see the Festival of Lights and then stopped to have dinner. That small outing made all the difference.

But the best thing about my awesome hubby is that he's a priesthood holder. I asked him for a blessing Friday night and was immediately comforted by the spirit. How greatful I am that my husband holds the priesthood and can give me a blessing at any time that one is needed. So that's why my husband is so great!

Not only has my hubby been great but Jake's mom and sister made my day yesterday. They brought me lunch, we chatted and watched a movie. They just hung out with me all afternoon and it was so great! It made the day go by so much faster!! So thank you Janice and Jamie for keeping me company!

I also wanted to mention the girls I work with - they are amazing. They've had to put up with me through my whole pregnancy. They've been so understanding when I've had to leave unexpected or when I have random breakdowns like I did on Friday. They are so sweet and I love working with them. They are awesome friends!

Like I mentioned before - these are just some people who have made a difference the last few days, I could name more.... my big brother Jed sent me a really sweet text message yesterday and I've had family calling to check on me all weekend - anyway, everyone has just really cheered me up!

Dog at Large

Jake and I usually keep Kage in a kennel because if there's any possible way to get out of the yard, he will find it and take advantage of it. Jake and I thought we had taken care of the spot where he was getting out so the last few days we've let him stay in the yard.

Yesterday - my cute little dog was waiting for me to get home from work on the inside of the gate. Today - I had no happy puppy to greet me, which means, "Oh Crap!" I called Jake to see if Kage had been there when Jake had come home from lunch - yes. Then I went to our neighbors house and asked them if they had seen him - yes. She had actually seen him at 2:30 playing with their dog in the backyard but assumed that Kage would go home when he got done playing. This isn't a child we're talking about here - he's a dog and he's Kage. Enough said. So that left me in a panic because he had been gone for like 3 hours. He could be anywhere.

Naturally, I was crying - I know he's just a dog but he's my dog and I love that little guy. Jake, naturally, was like "It's just a dog! Why are you getting so upset?!" Blah blah blah. You'd think he would know me better.

Anyway, Jake stopped at Rocky's - which has been another place where he has went when he's gotten out. They had at like 3:30. There, one of guys let him eat part of his sandwich and then let him leave. Brilliant idea - you don't know where the dog came from, don't know who he belongs to but you feed him and then let him go even though he has a collar with tags... Some people are awesome.

Jake then went to my mom's house - he's also been known to show up there. He wasn't there. I'm still crying. Jake went again later - he still wasn't there. Then Jake told me that my mom was gone and Poppie (her dog) wasn't outside - assuming she was inside. That didn't make sense to me (mom doesn't leave Poppie inside when she's gone, Poppie has accidents....) so I drove over there to check in the house. And I'm still crying. Little Miss Poppie was nowhere to be found.

So now Kage has a side kick. I don't know if it made me feel better or worse to know that Kage was not alone. I felt better knowing that he was with her because 2 dogs would be easier to find than 1 but worse because I know Kage lurred Poppie out of her yard and was a bad influence. Just another reason for Grandma to not like Kage.

And then all of a sudden, after my mom and dad both got there and we were about to send a search party out for our 2 little heathens, there they were. Wet, stinky, and super excited to see us. The excitment didn't last long because they both got in BIG trouble. But they were home and safe. And who can stay mad at a face like this....

So he's home. He's safe. And I'm glad. (Jake is too even tho he won't admit it.)

Tye & Audrey

Last week my big brother got married! Woo-hoo! Tye and Audrey got married on Oct. 29 at the Manti Temple. It was a beautiful wedding and Audrey looked absolutely gorgeous! Tye didn't look too bad either.

I'm so happy for them and wish them the very best!

Pregnant Madonna and a Hot Elton John

Jake and I were invited to a Host a Murder Party last night. Our costume assignments were Madonna and Elton John. I was pretty nervous about being Madonna since I'm pregnant and she's always dressed somewhat scandalous. But Jake and I pulled some costumes together and we had so much fun.

Here's my HOT Elton John (you can't really see his awesome earing tho...)

3 Years

Jake and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary this past week. On Monday we drove up to Salt Lake to spend the night. We went to the church history museum which neither of us had been to before. It was a lot of fun and very interesting.

Jake made us reservations at an awesome B&B called the Inn on the Hill. It was gorgeous. The place was built in 1906 and they had all this antique furniture. Anyway, it was awesome. Jake did an amazing job.

Another room in the lobby area which was hand painted a really long time ago - really pretty.

The view from our bedroom window

That night we went to dinner at Lamb's Grill, which the nice woman at the B&B recommended. The food was awesome. The restaurant is the oldest operating restaurant in Utah. And again, it had that old time feel to it - a diner and high booths but it was nice and classy. This seemed to be the theme for our trip. After our amazing halibut and lamb we went to Hale Theatre and watched Curtains. It was fun. The show wasn't our favorite - the performers did awesome but the show wasn't fantastic. But we still had a good time.

When we went back to the B&B and went to our room, I opened the door and Jake had arranged for the people at the Inn to set up a romantic room for us. They had music playing, sparkling cider ready for us and candles everywhere. It was beautiful and awesome. My husband is the best!

The next day after eating our yummy breakfast that was delivered to our room, we got ready and went to Gardner Village. Again, neither of us had been there before and it was so cute. And then we went to different baby places looking at car seats and strollers.

It was an awesome anniversary and I'm very grateful to be married to my wonderful husband. He's the best! I'm very lucky! Isn't he adorable?! Happy Anniversary babe! I love you!

The Yard

This post has been a long time coming. I'm so behind on my blogging. A few months ago Jake decided that he was going to put in a sprinkler system but not only was he going to put in a new sprinkler system - he needed to tear up the whole lawn and put in new sod. Oh wow, what a mess!

Our awesome dirt yard and my awesome husband on his tractor

Most of you know that my hubby has connetions in pretty much any industry. He's a wheeler and a dealer. He got a really good deal on the sprinkler system because he works at Harward's and they also had some good government incentives or something where we saved a lot of money as well. AND THEN he also had a hook-up with our sod and got it for FREE, that's right, FREE! The sod was just scraps - so it may not have been the best sod but to me it's looks awesome and it was FREE, so who cares?

Thanks to everyone who helped him get it done! We really appreciate it. It's nice to have a yard again!

My Mom

My mom's birthday was on Friday. It was a pretty big birthday so my brothers, dad and I decided to throw her a party. She's not big into the whole being center of attention thing so I knew she wouldn't agree to having a birthday party for herself. So we didn't consult her on it and we threw a Surprise Party last night. She was REALLY surprised. I was a little scared that she was going to kill me afterwards but I kept thinking that once she was there she would enjoy herself and not be so mad. I was right! Phew...

I'm so glad that so many of her friends and family could make it. The party turned out so good and I really think my mom enjoyed herself. It was so fun to do this for her!

In order to justify myself for putting this little shin-dig together for you Mom:
  • Because you're the best!

  • I knew you would never do anything like this for yourself. You do so much for others (especially us kids) that you sacrifice putting yourself first in order to take care of everyone else.

  • You have so many friends and family that I knew would love to celebrate with you.

  • You're one of my very best friends!

  • All these years, even though some of them have been tough, you seem to pull through everything that's thrown at you and you keep going. I admire you for that.

  • You've always been and still are such a good example to me and my brothers.

  • You make me laugh - you always do. Everyone that knows you love you and adore you because you are a genuinely fun, loving, good person.

  • And because I love you.

So Happy Birthday Mom. I hope it was memorable and I hope you loved it (and you're not mad....)! I love you!
