Happy 4th of July!

Jake and I went to the cabin this past weekend. I would have taken many pictures but silly me or Jake left the memory card in the computer at home.... so no pics. Anyway, we had so much fun.

Friday night Kelly made some awesome hamburgers for us (and hot dogs which I'm sure were tasty to those who eat them). The rest of the night we just hung out and visited with eachother. Kage didn't get any sleep that night which means, I didn't get any sleep either.

The next day we just hung out some more. The boys worked on the cabin. It's looking great! And I took a nap.

Jake and I went for a small 4-wheeler ride with Kage running behind us. He's a fast little bugger - he kept up with us the whole time. I wish I had as much energy as he does!

That night after an amazing dinner that Brett made us we went to Scofield to watch fireworks. There's an island in the middle of the lake where they light the fireworks. Brett and his family brought their boat so we went out on the lake to watch them. It was awesome. We were so close to the fireworks. It did end up raining of us but it was still awesome. We had a lot of fun.

Jake and I then went home after the fireworks and saw a TON of deer on our way down the canyon. We were lucky to not hit any of them. But my hubby was driving super careful (I know - weird!) to avoid hitting any deer. I think it's the little one of the way that's making him more careful.

We had so much fun this weekend. I'm so glad that we could spend time with our family and spend time at the cabin. It was so beautiful up there! So green! It was an awesome 4th!

BIG NEWS

Well, the cat is out of the bag now. THANK GOODNESS! The secret has been killing me. So for anyone who reads this blog who doesn't already know.....which may be nobody....

WE'RE PREGNANT!!! Woo-hoo!
I've been keeping a separate blog with all the baby stuff and I will probably continue to post most of the baby news on that blog so I can keep a journal of everything. I want to eventually put it into a book so it'll probably be easier to just keep it separate. We'll see how it goes. So add it to your blog list. And here it is....

Camping

I'm a little slow posting about our camping trip but Jake and I did go camping over Memorial Day weekend. We borrowed my mom's camping trailer and off we went. We had a lot of fun. We drove up Lake Fork (I think that's what it was called). There were a lot of people and all the good camping spots were taken so we made our own spot by the river.

It rained a little bit but it made 4-wheeling a lot of fun. It was beautiful up there. The temperature was awesome. Kage absolutely loved it! And it was fun to just get away and have sometime together.

Gardening

Last year my mom and I and a friend decided to do a garden in my mom's backyard. None of us had much gardening experience but we were going to give it a try. It was the biggest failure EVER! So naturally, my mom and I decided to do it again this year. But this time we recruited my dad to help us out since obviously we knew nothing about gardening. Dad has put so much work into the garden and our garden rocks this year! Thanks to Dad. I wish I had pictures to compare the two years - it's hilarious to think of our garden from last year versus this one. Here's some pictures of my parents and myself working together in the garden - we even got Tye out there to help us. Jake helped too but he wasn't there the night I was taking pictures. He even built us a sprinkler for the garden. My husband is the best!

Tye is pretending like he has been working so hard and is now taking a break. (I'm pretty sure that he hadn't done much, if any, work at this point.)

Me and my madre posing for the camera while holding some "premium manure".

Tye actually working. Just kidding Tye - kind of.

We planted enough to feed the whole neighborhood, now we're just hoping something will grow - even if it's just enough to feed us.

April Showers.... I mean SNOW

Oh my gosh is it ever going to stop snowing?! It's almost the end of April and it snowed today. I can handle the rain but I've had it with these crazy snow storms!! I'm ready for SPRING!

Trying to be crafty....

I've been attempting to be crafty. I'm starting small and plan on working my way up to doing bigger things... we'll see.

A few weeks ago I had a couple of friends come over to make cards. It was really fun. We plan on doing it again because it's great getting ideas from other people and of course, just hanging out with some good people. Here are some of the cards I made. (Not the best picture, but you get the gist.)

My mom and I got together to make these easter wreaths. They were super fun to make. They're kind of cheesy but that's okay.

I also made this easter basket out of scrapbook paper. Super easy! I really needed some easter decorations - I didn't have anything and didn't want to spend a lot of money on any. So I took matters into my own hands.

This one is my favorite! I got a box at JoAnn's for not very much money and decorated it to match my bedroom for a jewelry box. I've been in search for one for awhile but I just wanted something simple and not very expensive so this was my solution. Jake helped me put the slats in the inside.
I've wanted to do this one for awhile. To make my own planner! Yeah, I know, it's April but I finally got around to doing it. I got this notebook and then decorated it the way I wanted it. I still plan on putting tabs on it for the months and whatnot. I also made this address book. I bought one for super cheep at ShopKo and then just decorated it with cute paper.

So I'm not the most crafty person, but I am trying. It's been fun and I figure as long as I've got this crafty bug I better keep on making things. My mom and I got together this weekend and worked on a couple of things too. I have some other project ideas that I want to get started soon so stay tuned for those! And if anyone has any ideas (that are easy), let me know! I'm on a roll.

It's Been Forever!!!

Oh my gosh! It has been forever since I've blogged. I have to catch up....

So two weekends ago I went up to Ogden to watch my Dad and two of my brothers chariot race. It was the World Championship! Jed made the drive up from Texas with his girlfriend Shannon to watch the races as well. It was so good to have them here!

Tye's team kicked butt on Friday and won the race so he didn't have to run on Saturday - he was automatically in the championship race on Sunday. However, after his race on Friday, Orange Saint (one of the horses on his team) came back hurt. We were all really bummed but were glad he had a day off to hopefully recover.

Zac's race was next and he blew them away! So he also advanced to the championship race.
Saturday my mom and I went shopping since Tye and Zac weren't racing. I got some curtains for my front room (which look amazing!) and also some throw pillows for the couch to match the curtains (equally amazing - I just need new couches...).

Sunday, Tye was racing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for the 2nd Division. Saint was looking much better so they decided to run him. When they got out on to the track however, Saint was limping again. At the last minute they decided not to run him and scratched from the race. It was too bad but who knows how much damage it could have caused to the horses and Tye if they would have run. He did still get 3rd place though.
Zac was racing for the World Championship title. But he decided to let my Dad drive the team because he knew how much it meant to him and the last time they won the championship my dad had gotten hurt and was in the hospital. So Zac gave my dad the opportunity to drive the team. And he SMOKED them!!! It was awesome! And I'm pretty sure it was because of the amazing fans in the crowd cheering them on (my mom, Tye, Audrey, Zac, Jed, Shannon and myself). We were pretty loud even though my Dad was killing them the whole way.

The winning team.

Again, the winning team with Dave (my dad's chariot partner) driving.

The happy brothers after the race.

Dave and Dad (it was muddy) holding there prizes.

It was so much fun. I'm very proud of Tye, Zac and my Dad. I know it meant a lot to all of them. It was very exciting. The best part of the weekend was spending time with my brothers and parents. It doesn't happen too often when we're all together. We had a really good time.
