Meet Joe

Jake and I have been looking for a freezer. We bought half a cow from Jake's brother and now we need to have a place to put it. Apparently they are a pretty hot item on KSL. We've been watching it for weeks and everytime a freezer comes up it's gone by the time we call on it. So I was told about this place in Provo called Joe's Appliance Service. They refurbish appliances and sell them. I went to their website, which looked pretty nice, and there was a link that said "Meet Joe". So I met Joe. There was a lovely picture of him in his flannel shirt with a description about his business. So I called Joe to see if they had freezers. They did! He said that if we came by tomorrow (which was today) then he would have this freezer pulled out and looking nice for us. Umm... I think he forgot.

Jake and I went to this place after work today. Wow! What an experience.... You walk in there and there's just appliances everywhere!! There's a little path that goes through this store and there's crappy appliances, there's really nice appliances, and no organization whatsoever! It was... weird. So after this guy - Joe - walks through this place 2 or 3 times, he finally finds the freezer that is back behind all of these other appliances. Jake had to climb over washers and through fridges to get to this freezer - he was really climbing over things! The freezer was in bad shape - it works great, it just doesn't look great. But Joe says he will get it looking as good as new. We'll see....

We put down a $10 deposit on it, incase we liked it when he got it done. While he is writing us a receipt Jake starts chatting with him. Asking him how long he has being doing this and how he got started and Joe say's "What do you know about the commandments?" What? Did I just miss something? Where did that come from?! Joe starts talking about the book of mormom and and the bible. He was quoting scriptures - giving us the book, chapter and verse - he was a genious. But how weird is that? I have no idea where it came from. It was odd. He did this for about 10 minutes and we never did get to find out how he got started in this business.

It was a very interesting experience. But if all works out, we're going to have a freezer that works great (there's a 6 month warantee on everything you buy there) for $120. Sweet! We'll see how it goes though. Joe was a little strange. But he was a really nice guy and seriously, he had at least 10 of every appliance you can imagine in that place. Whether or not he can find it is a different story.

So if you're looking for an appliance - go meet Joe. It will be an interesting experience to say the very least.

You should have pretended to be Jehovah's Witnesses.

Joe sounds interesting. So he lives with a bunch of dead appliances huh? Hmmm maybe you should look inside and check for bodies?
